I am a Maryland girl. My parents moved to Beltsville Maryland when I was just three months old and I lived in that house until I got married. I have four older sisters who (terriorized me) have become my best friends. Growing up, I worked for my parent’s company, Capitol Lock & Hardware which sold wholesale builders hardware. Though I began on the sales counter, I gradually learned the skills to become the in-house locksmith. I became quite the expert at master keying and rekeyed many buildings in the District of Columbia.
I attended the University of Maryland and graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice. Soon after, I married my amazing husband, Rob Skora, and we moved to Woodbine in Carroll County, Maryland. I began working in property management which developed into an interest in the real estate industry.
We have two active boys that keep us on our toes. We have been active in many sports teams and the Boy Scouts. I spent many hours volunteering at their school, being class room mom, the team mom and doing various fundraisers. (Who’s turn was it to bring the snack?!!) I served as the Popcorn Kernel for Pack 392 and Troops 1120 and 1231. I also enjoyed being the Troop secretary.
My family has been active in Relay for Life and Susan G. Komen in memory of my mother, Anita Schlegel, who lost her battle with cancer and my mother-in-law, Dorothy Skora, who lost her battle with lung cancer. I have been an advocate for my oldest son who was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. He graduated from Century High School and will be heading to Salisbury University to earn a degree in Physics. Physics?? I know, right?
I recently joined The McKenna Group and it has been an amazing experience. The comprehensive resources and professional people make THE difference.
